A Hard Tackle is an unfair act by a player deemed by the referee to contravene the game's laws, that interferes with the active play of the game. A foul are punished by awarding a free kick / penalty kick plus cards if necessary. Direct and indirect free kicks and penalty kicks can only be awarded for offences committed when the ball is in play.
