Akwa United played a very crucial game in the Nigeria Professional Football League today as they hosted MFM FC at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Saturday evening. Akwa United came into this fixture intending to gain maximum points that will confirm them as winners of the NPFL title this season.
Akwa United took the lead in the 24th minute of the game as Charles Atshimene opened the scoring with a fantastic strike to put his side 1-0 ahead.
The Pressure coming from Akwa United couldn't be subdued by MFM FC as the home side got the second goal of the match through an own goal from Alimi Adebayo which made the scoreline 2-0 at halftime.
Mfon Udoh found the back of the net in the 62nd minute of the game to make the scoreline 3-0 in favour of Akwa United. MFM FC pulled a goal back in the 68th minute of the game as Micheal Mbonu converted easily from the penalty spot to make the scoreline 3-1.
Charles Atshimene scored an hattrick in today's match which the scoreline 5-2 in favour of Akwa United at full-time.
MFM United 2nd goal of the match was scored by D. Obasi in the 90th minute before Charles Atshimene scored his hattrick.
