Martinez vows to bring Messi to Aston Villa

Emiliano Martinez has claimed that he would like to see Lionel Messi join him at Aston Villa with the goalkeeper prepared to lower his salary in order to make a sensational deal possible.

“If Leo is whistled, I would bring him to Aston Villa. I will bait him with mate, I will make roasts for him every weekend, I ask people to make little flags for him and he has a good time. I will cut my salary for Messi if necessary," he stated to ESPN.

Beale: Door still open for Davis to play again

Rangers manager Michael Beale says Steven Davis still has a future at Ibrox, despite being out of contract in the summer. The Glasgow club announced Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Allan McGregor were on a list of out of contract players who will leave the club next month.

Davis is recovering from an ACL injury sustained at the back end of last year and Beale says the midfielder could return to the first-team fold after his recovery.

"Well obviously Steven is in the middle, really, of a long-term rehab from the ACL injury in December," Beale told Rangers TV.

"It's important that we allow Steven to get back to full fitness and at that stage of full fitness a decision will be made on what Steven wants to do. Whether that's playing or going into a role off the pitch and we want to keep our options open there, so does Steven, so that's one we'll update on as we go."
