Arsenal are simultaneously trimming both their senior squad and their U23 squad. The Gunners have a bloated squad and are doing a massive clear out in order to free up space for other players.
To date the Gunners have only signed two players for the first team in person of Willian Borges on a free transfer and Gabriel Magalhaes for a fee of 25 million pounds.
While they have signed a host of players for the U23 team like Tim Akinola, George Lewis, Salah Edinne, Jonathan Dinzeyi. The club are still interested in signing Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey and Olympic Lyon's Houssem Aouar.
According to emerging news from the player himself, former Arsenal promising attacker Alfie Matthews is leaving the club on a free transfer after his contract expired. He had this to say on Instagram.
"It is with great sadness that I say my farewells to @Arsenal. For the best part of my youth, I have been privileged to play for Arsenal FC and I have grown as a player and as a person. Playing for Arsenal has been a great honour and I have learnt a great deal. I say a thank you to all the staff and teammates and coaches that have helped me throughout my time at the club"
I sincerely hope this guy goes on to have a good career but to be honest I'm skeptical because the Serge Gnabry situation is still fresh in my mind. What's your opinion gooners?
