The long awaited Manchester Derby match between Manchester United and Manchester City is already live, and it is full of thrills and excitements just as expected. The two clubs are now playing against each other at Old Trafford .
However, as most fans predicted before the play, Manchester United's Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side has already made three errors in this match, and they must correct them before the match regulation time runs out.
First, Manchester United is playing with a lack of confidence and allowing Manchester City to play their trademark style of football. They're launching attacks, which is putting greater pressure on the Red Devils' defense. This is seen as Eric Bailly scored an own goal in the first few minutes of the game to demonstrate this assertion.
Secondly, Manchester United is currently playing more defensively, contrary to previous lineups released by the club, and this style of play won't necessarily work against a team like Manchester City.
As seen from the lineups, they are playing with enough midfielders and potent attackers in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo and others, this form of lineups doesn't necessitate defensive style of playing. The manager should employ tactical knowledge to revamp the lineups before the scoreline extends further in favour of Manchester City.
Preconceived notions of blocking and waiting for opportunities to launch counterattacks can't work against elite teams all of the time. Especially a team like Pep Guardiola's City, which has a strong defense.
Finally, Solskjaer should make some crucial adjustments in both the defense and midfield; Harry Maguire and Fred are two players who should not have started this match. They should be benched more for them to step up their games.
Solskjaer can do these three things to keep his team from being exposed to more attacks and even help them manage a comeback against Manchester City.
