Super Eagles of Nigeria stars Samuel Chukwueze and Olanrewaju Kayode were on action for both Villarreal and Sivassapor Football Clubs in the UEFA Europa League clash at Estadio de la Ceramica in Spain on Thursday night.
The Nigerian stars were given starting shirts by coach Unai Emery (Villarreal) and coach Risa Calimbay (Sivassapor), in the first game of the Europa League, and they both performed excellently in the game.
Real Madrid loan star Takefusa Kubo opened scoring for the home in the 13th minutes, after receiving a fine assist from Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze, before Carlos Bacca doubled the lead in the 20th minutes.
The away team fought back in the 33rd minutes through a fine goal from Super Eagles star Olanrewaju Kayode, before Mustapha Yatabare equalized for the away team in the 43rd minutes to end the first half 2-2.
Juan Foyth put Villarreal ahead in the 57th minutes after receiving an assist from Takefusa Kubo, before Max-Alain Gradel equalized to make it 3-3 in the 64th minutes.
Former Barcelona star Paco Alcacer came from the bench to score twice for the host in the 74th and 78th minutes minutes to end the match 5-3 in favour of the host.
Both Samuel Chukwueze and Olanrewaju Kayode were superb for both sides in the match, and they both played the whole duration of the game.
