Ronaldo And Six Other Players That Have Won The UEFA Player Of The Year Award Since Its Inception.

The UEFA Player of the Year Award is a yearly individual football award that is given to the football player playing in Europe that is considered the best player of both club and national team competition in the previous year. The award was created in 2011 by UEFA in partnership with European Sports Media(ESM) group (Credit: Wikipedia).

However, Lionel Messi was the first player to win the award in 2011 after its creation, but Cristiano Ronaldo has won the award more than any other player(three times), and he is also the only player to win it twice in a row.Ronaldo has won the UEFA player of the year award three times in his career.

Meanwhile, apart from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the likes of Andres Iniesta, Franck Ribery, Luka Modric, and few other players have also won the award since its inception in 2011.

Robert Lewandowski won the UEFA player of the year award in 2020.

Meanwhile, Manchester City's Kelvin De Bruyne and Chelsea duo N'Golo Kante and Jorginho have been nominated for this year's edition of the UEFA award, and the winner will be announced on Thursday 26 August.
