Messi and 5 top footballers who changed clubs this season but are not performing up to expectations

Thousands of players change their clubs in the summer around the world and the main reason clubs invest in these players is to improve their sides, but some of them are not performing up to expectations. Different reasons like adaptation and form are responsible for this, but it doesn't change the fact that fans will feel disappointed.

1. Sergio Ramos.

The former Real Madrid captain's performance is close to zero because fans have not yet seen him in action. Even though he joined Paris Saint-Germain free, the club is paying salaries and there are even insinuations that his club may call off his contract.

He is one of the biggest players who changed clubs but at the moment, he is far below expectation.

2. Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United fans wanted the former Manchester City and Dortmund player for a few years, and they got him this season, but he is yet to adapt to the Premier League and is performing below expectation. He is even yet to register an official goal, even though the club paid a fortune for him.

3. Lionel Messi.

The excitement about Messi joining Paris Saint-Germain was massive because fans expected the kind of performance he gave Barcelona, but he didn't even play the first few games for the club.

The last time Messi had a major injury was in the 2019/2020 season in Barcelona where he was out for 42 days but in less than 6 months in Paris, he's already been injured twice. A bruised bone kept him out for 7 days and since October 31st, he's been out for a knee injury.

The Argentine magician is yet to score in the Ligue 1 and is still below the expectations of fans.

4. Luuk De Jong.

Imagine losing a player like Antoine Griezmann and the person who replaces him is one who scored only 4 goals last season, a real nightmare. Barcelona fans think that he is not of the club's standard, but that is what you get when your club doesn't have money.

Fans want him out, but he is not helping matters too as he is not delivering the goals they desire.

5. Saul Niguez

The Spanish player's move was to free up space for Griezmann's salary, but that didn't stop Chelsea's fans from welcoming him well because of what he can offer.

From his first match, Saul showed a lack of adaptation, and this is understandable because he played in the La Liga Santander all his life. He's managed to play two games for Chelsea, and it may be hard for him to break into Chelsea's talented midfield.
