Report: Phil Foden is very close to signing a new Manchester City contract

Phil Foden is about to sign a new contract with Manchester City, The Athletic understand. The midfielder's contract at hand will expire in the summer of 2024, but Manchester City is renewing his contract. It is understood that although the new agreement has not yet been finalized, it does not believe that there are any major obstacles to reaching an agreement.

Stockport-born Foden graduated from Manchester City's academy and supported the club since he was a child. Since breaking into the first team, he has been playing for Guardiola's team. He made his debut in the Champions League against Feyenoord in November 2017. He played 28 times last season to help Manchester City win the Premier League title, scoring two goals in 6 games so far this season.

The 21-year-old has also done well to ensure regularity in the England team. Since his debut in 2020, he has played 10 times. He was also part of the England squad that has reached the final of the European Cup in 2020 in which he came from bench.
