The tournament which is scheduled to kick-start next year, amongst other wide ranging decisions including the postponement of the 2021 African Cup of Nations and the 2020African Nations Championship(CHAN), cancellation of this year's annual CAF awards and the 2020 Women's Africa Cup of Nations(AWCON).
The Super Falcons Captain, Assist Oshoala has praised the Confederation of African Football(CAF) for their decision for introduction of CAF Champions Women's League
Oshoala stated that the introduction of the Women's Champions League will go a long way to increase competition and quality of football, and at the same time bringing in more investment to the Women's game in Nigeria and other African countries.
"If I am playing for a team like Bayelsa Queens, and perhaps, the previous year, Rivers Angel went ahead to represent Nigeria, hopefully my team, the administrator and stakeholders, will want to work hard to make sure they qualify so they can actually go and represent(Nigeria) in the next tournament," Asisat Oshoala said.
"However this simply indicate that there will be more investors, and this will gear up the funds as well, and also, the teams will start working hard to ensure they are well prepared in order to go and display the best at the tournament.
"The 4 times African Women's Footballer of the year said: "I think it is really good to help the local leagues and for the girls, they will improve. You know competing with other people from other Countries, is having added advantage than just play in National team."
The format and details of the Maiden edition of Women's Champions League is on the way and will be revealed by CAF when it is time.
