La Liga

Here are THREE main reasons for Barca bad performances this season

Barcelona will return to action Tonight when they travel to Cadiz for their 5th game in Laliga. Barca performances in their first few games have been been a thing of worry to the Barcelona board, Fans and even to the coach himself.

Barcelona currently sits in 8th position after recording 8 points for 4 games. Barcelona worrying stats in their first 5 games in all competition has led to constant calls for the termination of Koeman’s contract. The likes of Martinez, Xavi, and others have been linked to Barcelona as a replacement for the Dutchman. It is only right that Barcelona fans blame Koeman for Barcelona performances as he is in charge of the team. However, looking at Barcelona so far, Koeman is not the main reasons for Barcelona bad results. Here are some of the reasons.

1) Messi’s Departure : It is only a fake football fan that will say the departure of Messi will not affect the team. Despite his age, Messi is a player who will guarantee almost 50 goal contributions in a season. Losing such a player will definitely change the team. Koeman in his interview with Voetball International admitted that the presence of Messi “disguised” everything in Barcelona.

2) Bad Management Decisions : This can be traced back to the previous administration. It is no longer a secret that Barcelona is suffering from serious financial problems. This led to the departure of Messi and some other players. However, Laporta is not completely blameless in this situation. Following the departure of Messi, Griezmann was allowed to leave Barca on loan to their direct opposition just like in the case of Suarez. Although Griezmann performances for Barca in his first two seasons was not encouraging, he would at least guarantee double figures in areas of goal contributions.

3) Injuries : Barcelona are currently without 7 first team players. 4 out of these 7 players play in attack which has been Barca weakest area. Fati, Dembele, Aguero and Braithwaite are out injured limiting Koeman to Depay, Luuk De Jong, Demir and Coutinho( Who also just returned from injury). Fati, Dembele and Aguero have been injured before the season started which is why I still don't understand the decision of Laporta to let Griezmann go. At least, the Frenchman will always be available as he rarely gets injured. The combination of Depay and Griezmann in attack will definitely be better than what they have right now.
