The Spanish newspaper explains that the Catalan giants have made it clear to the player that if he wants to continue having regular playing time, he ought to agree to extend his contract, which is due to expire on 30 June 2022.
Though both sides are believed to be willing to strike a new deal, Barca officials reportedly suspect that Dembele could be pretending and merely stringing the club along while his contract runs down, boosting his chances of leaving on a free transfer next summer.
In a situation whereby Dembele fails to sign his contract, Barca has some other options to explore in setting up their starting XI without the Frenchman.
In this article, we'll be looking at how Ronald Koeman might set up his side if the World Cup winner leaves. Check it out below:

Though Marc Andre Ter Stegen has been criticized lately for conceding easy goals, the German goalie is still expected to keep his place in the goal as he reportedly has the support of the board.
For the defensive positions, Ronald Araujo could form a partnership with Clement Lenglet. Though the latter hasn't featured in most games this season, he's expected to be a regular starter after the international break as he's reportedly recovering from a knee injury.

Jordi Alba and Sergino Dest could keep their positions as full-backs.
For the positions in the middle of the park, the trio of Pedri Gonzalez, Frenkie De Jong, and Sergio Busquets are expected to keep their various positions.
According to a report in 'Sport', Raheem Sterling has put off his new contract at Man City as Barcelona is interested in getting hold of him.

If the Englishman eventually joins, he could be Dembele's replacement in the left-wing-forward position while Memphis Depay and Ansu Fati occupy the center-forward and right-wing forward positions respectively.
