Enyimba Crash Out of CAF Confederation Cup

Enyimba FC of Aba have crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup following a 1-1 draw with Pyramids of Egypt in Aba. Enyimba lost the first leg 4-1 in Egypt and needed to score three goals without conceding.

Enyimba knew they had a mountain to climb and they started the attack early on in the game in search of goals. Enyimba's first chance of the game fell to Victor Mbaoma in the 7th minute but his effort narrowly missed the target. Anayo Iwuala had the opportunity to put Enyimba ahead in the 13th minute but he missed the chance. All he needed to do was to lift the ball beyond the goalkeeper but he chose to dribble but failed to execute the task successfully

Philip Ozor was the driving force for Enyimba in midfield and he came close to scoring twice, the closest of which was his long range shot in the 23rd minute which was tipped over the bar by Elshenawi. Farouk Mohammed came close in the 30th minute but his effort went inches wide after the goalkeeper was well beaten

Enyimba conceded in the 32nd minute when Adel scored following a costly mistake from Nelson Ogbonnaya. That was a repeat of the same mistake in Egypt

Anayo Iwuala scored in the 40th minute when he scored from outside the box to restore parity for Enyimba. Enyimba failed to score another goal after after the first half and all their efforts in the second half was futile
