England lost (3-2) to Italy on penalties at Wembley stadium. Some Ex England footballers, Pundits and fans criticised Gareth Southgate's penalty taker selection as the likes of Raheem Sterling and Jack Grealish were left out.

Many thought both aforementioned names would have featured in England's first five kick and just maybe the result would have been a positive one for England.

"If you’re (Raheem) Sterling or (Jack) Grealish, you cannot sit there and have a young kid [Saka] go up for a penalty ahead of you, you can’t,” former Manchester United star Keane told ITV.

Grealish stated he wanted to take a penalty but Southgate said no.

He took to his Instagram to express how the loss to Italy has left him devastated:

"Absolutely devastated.. I can't actually explain what it means personally the way the fans have acted this past 7 weeks.. To every single one of you, I hope I can repay you" - jackgrealish

John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Jordan Henderson and others, in reaction to Jack's post all praised the Aston villa talisman for his performance and contributions.
