Opinion: 1 Chelsea player that could benefit much from Lukaku's arrival.

The blues completed the signing of the former Inter Milan forward in a £98million deal last night, much to the delight of their fans. Before now, it has been a rather quiet summer for Chelsea in terms of transfer activities. First, they were linked with a move for Hakimi Achraf who has since joined PSG.

Chelsea's search for a proper number 9 has seen them being linked with the likes of Erling Haaland, Robert Lewandowski and later Lukaku, after completing the signing of the latter, we will take a look at how the signing will blend with what Chelsea has on ground and one player who could benefit greatly from the latest addition.

Last summer, Chelsea spent a lot on new signings due to the transfer embargo placed on the club in the two windows that precedes the last. During the transfer ban, Chelsea were forced to rely on Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud for goals, however, the signing of Timo Werner in a deal close to £50million in that shows Chelsea didn't trust the options at their disposal. Unfortunately for them, Germany striker, Timo Werner who joined the blues on the back of a successful couple of seasons with Leipzig has failed to live up to expectations, which make the signing of another striker a priority this summer.

After another huge outlay on a striker this summer, does it mean the likes of Werner will not have a future at the club again? In truth, that might not be the case. Olivier Giroud has since completed a move to Ac Milan, while report had it that Chelsea has accepted Roma's bid for Tammy Abraham, leaving Timo Werner as the only other option the blues have after Lukaku.

One certain thing is that, Lukaku will be expected to go straight into the blue's starting eleven which means Timo Werner will have to watch more from the bench this season; however, we believe contrary to this, Lukaku's arrival could benefit Werner, as such we analyze how that tends to work below.

When Werner was at Leipzig, he thrived while playing in a counter attacking team which have two players upfront. In fact, the way the German club use to play to Werner's strength is by having at least eight men behind the ball when they are out of possession, then hit their opponents on the counter through Poulsen and Werner. Last season, Werner's output was affected because he has had to lead Chelsea's attack all on his own, something which he is not used to.

The question most Chelsea fans should also ask is that can Lukaku thrive on his own? Maybe yes, maybe not, but the truth is that Lukaku found a perfect partner in Lautaro Martinez at Inter Milan and the duo struck a partnership that propelled Inter to Serie A title for the first time in almost a decade. Considering the story of these two strikers, one could say lining them up alongside each other will be the perfect scenario for them.

Lukaku is a big striker who can use his strength to hold off one or two defenders and set off his mate, something Werner could really thrive on considering his sheer pace and ability to be at the right place at the right time. The truth is that many might think the arrival of Lukaku will spell the end of Werner at Chelsea, but the truth here is the German striker could be the greatest beneficiary of the club's latest signing. It remains to be seen how Tuchel plan to use the two of them, but starting the two of them together could benefit them both and even the team.
