Demba Ba Announce Retirement

Demba Ba, a former Chelsea, Newcastle United, and West Ham striker, has retired after a 16-year playing career.

After departing Swiss club FC Lugano last month, the 36-year-old became a free agent; Demba Ba: "What an amazing trip it's been. Football has given me so many pleasant emotions in addition to all the sweat and tears I've experienced."

In recent seasons, he has won the Turkish Super Lig twice, with Besiktas in 2016/17 and Istanbul Basaksehir in 2019/20.

Ba was without a club after leaving FC Lugano in August after two stints in China with Shanghai Shenhua and 22 caps for Senegal.

"It is with a glad heart that I declare the end of my playing career," Ba wrote on Twitter.

"What a great ride it has been; football has given me so many beautiful emotions, despite all the sweat and tears I have experienced."

"This will forever remain in my thoughts and heart, from the fans' excitement and the noise emanating from the stands after every goal to the connection with my team mates on and off the field."

Congratulations to Demba Ba on his retirement..
