Super Eagles dazzler, Paul Onuachu was in action yesterday for John van den Brom's Genk football team against Frank Vercauteren's Royal Antwerp FC at the Bosuil Stadion, in their first game of the Jupiler Pro League Championship Group.
Genk played away from home and were very impressive as the visiting team as they put up some physical, tactical and technical displays over the host of the night which earned them a deserved three goals to two score line at full time.
Paul Onuachu who has been firing from all cylinders for the Pro League giant was part of the squad fielded by the visitor of the night, following his outstanding performance for the club this season across all competitions.
He was able to impress as he scored a very vital goal which was instrumental in the crucial away win for the visitor in the five goals thriller.
The visitor took the lead in the first half of the thrilling encounter which was the only goal that separated the two teams at half time, before the host netted two straight goals in the second half to put the visitor behind with a two goals to one score line.
The Nigreian dazzler, Paul Onuachu then stepped up to net the equaliser to make it 2-2 before they eventually got the winner in the late minute to the end of the game, to end the game three goals to two at full time.
Paul Onuachu with his only goal in the game has now bagged his 30th league goal of the season for Genk, as no player has scored more in a single season of the Belgian Pro League this century.
The Super Eagles star has now been able to extend his tally of the season as the top scorer in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, with three games left to the end of the season.
He has now scored a total of 34 goals this season for both club and country, 32 goals for Genk in all competitions and 2 goals for Nigeria in 2020/2021 so far.
With Paul Onuachu's 30th league goals of the season, he has now set a record in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League as he broke the jinx of 19 years as the second player to reach the feat.
Paul Onuachu has scored 30 goals in the Jupiler Pro League so far and becomes the second player to reach 30 goals over the same campaign in the 21st century after Wesley Sonck in 2001-02.
The Nigerian International also won the Belgian Croky Cup for Genk couple of days ago, what a fantastic season the Nigerian prolific and versatile forward is having!
