It was a disappointing end to the 2020/2021 season as Arsenal finished in 8th position and missed out on European football for the first time in 25 years. Mikel Arteta will try and rethink his strategies as he looks to get Arsenal back to the top.
In preparation for the upcoming season, Mikel Arteta and his team are currently in Scotland for pre-season. Their first friendly match ended in a 2-1 defeat to Scottish side, Hibernian, but they play against Rangers today in their second friendly match before moving to the United States for two other matches.
While addressing the fans in an interview, Mikel Arteta revealed the player who chose Scotland as a place for Arsenal to host their pre-season. As shared by Gurjit on Twitter, Mikel Arteta said,
"It was Kieran Tierney's advice to be fair, and I think he was spot on. It got everything we need here. We are quiet, we are calm, we have really good facilities, we are not far from home just in case something happens in this Covid world"
Tierney have been showing his leadership qualities since arriving in Arsenal. Unlike other players, he had to cut short his four weeks holiday to join Arsenal for pre-season. He is a leader who leads by example. I won't be surprised if he becomes the next Arsenal captain.
