After winning the Bundesliga title for the 9th time in a row, the Bayern Munich scoring machine, Robert Lewandowski has broken a legendary record (Gerd Muller's record) after scoring his 40th goal in a match against Freiburg on Saturday.
If we could recall, Gerhard "Gerd" Müller is a German prolific football player who is famously known for setting a legendary record of scoring 40 goals in a season. However, Lewandowski matched his record scoring his 40th goal of the season.
Apart from the wowed fans, the Bayern Munich staffs and players were quick to congratulate the Polish man and most of all provided him with a guard of honor at the side of the pitch after scoring his 40th goal.
The Poland captain reached the milestone by scoring from the penalty spot in the 26th minute of their game against Freiburg today.
Lewandowski has been ecstatic this season as he currently occupies the second on the all-time Bundesliga goalscorers list with 276 goals (89 behind Muller’s record of 365). Dear sports fans, what is your say about this new growth?
