Opinion: Without Olivia Giroud Chelsea cannot beat Real Madrid in UCL semi-final

Chelsea have already booked a Championships League semi-final meeting with Spanish giant Real Madrid. Chelsea beat Porto to reach semi-final while Real Madrid sent Liverpool back home.

Chelsea have come a long way in their Champions League journey. Chelsea's Champions League journey was led by Frank Lampard before he was sacked due to poor league runs.

Many players who helped Chelsea reached where they are have been jettisoned to bench since Thomas Tuchel took over. One of the prominent of them all is Olivia Giroud. Olivia Giroud found his place limited under Lampard having been overtaken by Tammy Abraham. Both Tammy and Giroud don't have a place in Tuchel's squad.

Giroud is still probably the Chelsea hero considering his goal against Sevilla and Atletico Madrid. Giroud ruined Atletico Madrid's confidence with a beautiful bicycle kick. That was not expected from the 34-year-old man.

Although Chelsea won comfortably in the second leg, but it was Giroud's goal that spurred Chelsea's confidence to rise.

Olivia Giroud has appeared in Champions League and Europa League in 66 times and his experiences make him one of the players that can't be overlooked when Chelsea face Real Madrid at the end of this month.

Chelsea have Havertz and Timo Werner to rely on but non of these players has the experience as Giroud. Chelsea must use Giroud against Real Madrid less they are defeated.

Considering this formation below Chelsea may not score against tall Real Madrid keeper Courtois

Chelsea can withdraw Werner to left side and allow Giroud to lead the line. With this, in my opinion, Chelsea will beat Madrid
