On Tuesday afternoon, Thomas Tuchel and 21 Chelsea Players landed safely in the Italian Capital Turin ahead the Blues UEFA Champions League clash with the Biaconnerri. The Blues will be hosted by Juventus at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday evening in their second 2021/22 Champions League game.
According to Squad number, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Antonio Rudiger, Marcos Alonso, Andreas Christensen, Jorginho, Thiago Silva, Mateo Kovavic, Romelo Lukaku, Timo Werner, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Marcus Bettilnelli, Trevor Chalobah, Edouard Mendy, Saul Niguez, Ross Barkley, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Cesar Azpilicueta and Kai Havertz are the 21 Players that travelled to Italy and are available to make appearance for the Blues against their host in Turin.
Conspicuously missing from the list are N'Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Reece James due to either illness or injury concern.
With the absence of Reece James and N'Golo Kante, Chelsea are a little bit light at the Defense and Midfield respectively because the duo both made appearance for Chelsea in their last League encounter against Manchester City. However, Juventus are also without their lead Attackers as Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala will be sidelined in the encounter because of Injury.
It's almost a fair game to both sides as key players are missing but we'll take a look at how the absence of Christian Pulisic, N'Golo Kante, Reece James and Mason Mount may affect the Blues.
The Frenchman needs no introduction. There's no gainsaying that he'll be greatly missed by Thomas Tuchel against Juventus. Although, one shouldn't be concerned about his absence as there are about 4 replacement in Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Saul Niguez, Mateo Kovavic and Jorginho that can step up for Kante but none of them can assure a tight game like N'Golo Kante usually does.
Reece James sharpened Chelsea's attacking edge in the Blues' opening UEFA Champions League encounter against Zenit St Petersburg. He made 3 key passes in the game which was the highest made by any Chelsea Players. Thomas Tuchel has been interchangeably using him and the club's Skipper Cesar Azpilicueta as right wing-backs and Right centre-halves in his three-man defense.
The England international haven't miss any Chelsea's Champions League trip since the 2019/20 Season. Although his performance this season haven't been as impressive, he's still among the best Attackers that Thomas Tuchel has.
The American International has made just one League appearance for Chelsea this season and, he's the least likely Player to be missed in the encounter against Juventus.
