Mourinho will take over as manager of Roma next season, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho has been named as Roma's new head coach, and has agreed to a three-year contract with the club.

After announcing that new coach Paulo Fonseca will leave at the end of the season, La Lupa has now reported that Mourinho will take over ahead of next season.

In an official statement, the club said, "The club is pleased to announce an agreement has been reached with Jose Mourinho for him to become our next head coach ahead of the 2021-22 season."

The Giallorossi are ecstatic to welcome the former Inter coach, according to Vice-President Ryan Friedkin.

“We are ecstatic to welcome José Mourinho to the AS Roma family,” said club president Dan Friedkin and vice president Ryan Friedkin.

José will bring immense leadership and experience to our ambitious project as a great champion who has won trophies at every level.

“José's promotion is a significant step toward establishing a long-term and consistent winning culture at the club.”

Mourinho was fired by Spurs last month and has now signed a contract with the Giallorossi.

“I immediately grasped the full scope of their aspirations for Roma after meetings with the ownership,” Mourinho said.

“I accepted the job because of the Roma fans' tremendous enthusiasm, and I can't wait to start next season.”
