EFL Cup: How Thomas Tuchel Could Line Up Against Aston Villa On Wednesday With Key Players Rested

Chelsea will kick off their campaign in the EFL cup this Wednesday as they take on Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. The English League Cup is back this week, and that means another midweek match for The Blues.

There are a number of players who could use a rest for Chelsea this week after a busy couple of matches off the back of a busy international break for most players.

So, how will Thomas Tuchel lineup with a heavy rotation likely possible in the match against Villa?

*Benjamin Chilwell:- Ben has not started a game, since his the champions league final against Manchester City last season. No doubt about it, Chilwell will get his long-awaited start in the upcoming game against Villa.

*Kepa Arrizabalaga:- with Eduoard Mendy not fully fit, Kepa is expected to retain his place in goal, after his performance against Tottenham on Sunday.

*Trevoh Chalobah will definitely start at right center-back, but who joins him in the back three is not quite so obvious. Malang Sarr could partner chalobah, but I expect Christensen to start the game.

At right wing-back, Azpilucuta is sure to start, with Reece James not yet confirmed available after he was dropped for the spurs match on Sunday.

In the midfield, Saul Niguez will be expected to start after an awful debut. Jorginho could be called up to partner Saul on Wednesday.

However, Tuchel may prefer to keep Jorginho fresh for the weekend game, and in that case Ruben Loftus-Cheek or Barkley could start and partner with Saul Niguez.

With Christian Pulisic still out due to injury, Hudson Odoi will be expected to be on the left, Hakim Ziyech on the right, and Timo Werner as the striker against Villa this week.

To sum it up here is my predicted lineup

(3-4-3): Kepa, Chalobah, Christensen, Sarr, Odoi, Jorginho, Saul, Chilwell, Hudson-Odoi, Ziyech, Werner.
