Check Out Photos From Afcon 2021 Main Venue As Inauguration Takes Place On Friday In Yaounde

The 60,000-seater Olembe Sports Complex, the venue that will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the CAF Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 will be inaugurated on Friday, September 3rd, 2021.

The stadium that was named after the country's second-ever president, Paul Biya will host the 2022 World Cup qualifiers between Cameroon and Malawi. This will mark the first international match at the stadium.

The game between Cameroon and Malawi will be one of the 30 matches scheduled over the next FIFA Window during which the African teams will play two matches home and away.

The Olembe sports complex covers an area of 84 acres in the Olembe neighborhood.

Construction work at the Olembe Sports Complex commenced in January 2018 by Gruppo Piccini construction. The complex covers two training stadiums with 1,000 seats each, one of each of gymnasium, handball court, basketball court, tennis court, Olympic swimming pool, 5-star hotel with 70 rooms, shopping mall, museum, and cinema.

It is considered the largest in all of Cameroon and the ninth-largest in Africa.
