Nigeria's most reliable Striker is looking very fit and on great form of her life for Barcelona feminine Team after her show of professionalism and exceptional qualities just 5 games into the Season. As hot as Oshoala looks from the start of the season, the 26 year Old Champions League Winner can still go unrecognised this season.
Asisat Oshoala could have easily contested with Jennifer Hermoso for last season's Golden Boot award but she slumped to a terrible injury that almost ruined her season .Although she struggled with the pains and returned to action as she contributed her quota to Barca Women's Treble Titles. If Oshoala does not get protection from Match Referees this season, her set goals will surely be truncated by injuries from games.
Former Barca Women's Coach, Lluis Cortés was usually putting Oshoala on the substitution list as he preferred Bruna Vilamala to the Nigerian Striker in the latter part of the Season. Oshoala's inability to start easy games for Barcelona last season kept her goal's number on the low. The Striker has 7 goals from 5 games this season already and more will still come. Coming from the bench to grab the 9th goal for Barclona against Deportivo Alaves just 29 minute on the field was a strong message that she could have scored more if she had the privilege to start more games.
If Jonatan Giraldez, the new Barclona Women's Coach is going to adopt same strategy for the new season, selecting Bruna Vilamala or Pina ahead of Oshoala, the Nigerian Striker will lost her wonderful form and every possiblity of winning an individual accolades will surely be low.
Oshoala's invitation to National duties is going to be another factor this season. For years now, the Super Falcons of Nigeria have been depending massively on Oshoala's experience. She was wonderful with the National Youth Team and at the senior level, her experience and contribution speaks volume. However, Oshoala's importance in the Team can expose her to injuries which will easily slow down her drive and motivation in winning personal accolades like the golden boot. Honouring or accepting International calls for Oshoala must be selective if she wants to make a statement in Spain and in Europe this season since there is no major International tournament for her this year.
As the leading goal scorer in Spanish top flight League, her concentration of getting goals as a Striker must be balanced with her mental health especially when it comes to decision making. Not all Super Falcons games are important. In a short while, the ''qualifiers'' for the African Women's Cup will commence in October and Oshoala's turn to make a matured decision will come. More so, the preparation for the FIFA Women's World Cup is near, all eyes will be on her but there are no awards at the qualifiers. This is surely her time to fly higher but it could also be a low time in her career if she makes wrong decisions.
