Nigeria lost today CAF World Cup Qualification fixture against Central Africa Republic which was played in Lagos. The Super Eagles still topped the group table despite the result. It wasn't the result most Nigerians were expecting, Central Africa Republic played well in today's match. Here are two mistakes Gernot Rohr made as Nigeria failed to win.
1. Tactics: Gernot Rohr used a whole different tactics for today's occasion, he played more of a defensive lineup in today's match. Kelechi Iheanacho was the only player doing most of the creative work in the first half of the match. Victor Osimhen barely got touch in the oppositions penalty area. He also missed a big chance in the first half of the match.
The midfielders were not getting their job done in today's match, they were poor going forward but had a good defensive stats.
Gernot Rohr will have to get more attacking players involved in action. Alex Iwobi would have been an essential feature for today's occasion for the Everton forward sustained an injury and will miss their next matches.
2. Squad: The squad selection wasn't what most Nigerians were expecting, Kelechi Iheanacho and Victor Osimhen won't be productive if they started together. They play in the center forward position at their various clubs not second strikers. It will be helpful if Gernot Rohr decides to choose one over the other. The midfield selection wasn't the best one, Wilfred Ndidi's absence was felt in today's match. The midfield lacked creativity and were not quick in making actions.
