Chelsea qualified to the Champions League semi finals on Tuesday, 13th April 2021. They defeated the Portuguese side Porto on aggregate goals to qualify. Porto defeated Chelsea by a lone goal on Tuesday but Chelsea qualified by two goals to one on aggregate with the help of Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell strikes in the first leg of the quarter finals against Porto.
In the second leg against Porto, Chelsea were mostly dominated. They hardly got a shot on target against Porto on Tuesday and their opponents in the Champions League semi finals would either be Real Madrid or Liverpool. These two teams have a lot of experience in the Champions League already which would make it difficult for a Thomas Tuchel Chelsea to defeat because most of their player are inexperienced in the Champions League.
Chelsea has higher odds in meeting the 13 times Champions League winners Real Madrid in the semi finals because currently Real Madrid are winning Liverpool by three goals to one from the first leg of the quarter finals stage.
