However, that has not quite turned out as expected as the Gunners are currently lying in 11th position on the Premier League table after racking up 10 points in their first seven league matches so far.
That said, Arsenal could now be rocked with reports that experienced striker Alexandre Lacazette could leave the club when the transfer window opens next year.
The 30-year-old France International, who joined Arsenal after leaving Ligue 1 side Lyon in 2017 has been an important member of the first-team squad over the previous seasons.
The veteran centre-forward was particularly impressive in the 2020/2021 season, where he scored 17 goals and provided three assists in 43 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal.
Alexandre Lacazette has however started the 2021/2022 slowly and has still recorded four goals and provided 1 assist in 4 appearances in all competitions for the club.
But then, the veteran striker has less than a year left on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium and according to reports from The Sun, he could be leaving the club when the transfer window opens.
The reports further claimed that Alexandre Lacazette is wanted by newly-bought Premier League club Newcastle United and will make a move for him when his current contract expires at the end of the season.
Newcastle United, who are recently bought by a Saudi Arabia-led consortium will be heavily backed financially when the transfer window opens and will make a move to sign Alexandre Lacazette.
That said, it remains to be seen if Alexandre Lacazette will have a change of heart and commit his future to Arsenal or he will be interested in a new challenge at Newcastle United.
