Chelsea received a boost in the race for champions league qualification for next season following a 1-0 win against Norwich city at Stamford bridge last night, but they are just one point clear of Manchester united and Leicester city.

However,Chelsea are said to be preparing for next season as the club is being continuously linked with some players and they are one of few teams who will have money to spend this summer despite the corona virus outbreak which have had an impact on the finances of football clubs.

But according to reports,Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a move for Hakim Ziyech's former Ajax colleague Nicolas Tagliafico.

The Blues have earmarked a new left back as one of their top summer transfer targets, with Leicester's Ben Chilwell top of the list.

However, should Leicester's asking price prove to more than Chelsea are willing to pay, then the sun are reporting that they will look to sign Tagliafico instead.

The 27-year-old is also the subject of interest from Atletico Madrid and is one of several Ajax stars to have an agreement in place with the club that he can leave this summer if he wants to.

Speaking to Het Parool, manager Erik Ten Hag confirmed the club have agreements with Tagliafico, goalkeeper Andre Onana and playmaker Donny van de Beek.

"The transfer market will start in August - the top leagues are now being played out, so the money flows are maintained," Ten Hag said.

"The market value of players will be slightly depressed, but not much.

"Based on their performance and ambition, a number of our players also want to make the move abroad.

"Agreements have been made with Andre Onana, Donny van de Beek and Nicolas Tagliafico, but it remains to be seen whether the market is indeed breaking loose.

"For Onana and Van de Beek, another year of Ajax could certainly be an option, for Tagliafico it is slightly different because of his age.

"In the preparation I am going to try Lisandro Martinez in that position. He has also played in midfield with us, but he is a defender."

Blues boss Frank Lampard is desperate to sign a new left back, Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri both looking suspect defensively at times this season.

He has already spent big on Ziyech and Timo Werner but needs to strengthen his back four if Chelsea are to compete with Liverpool and Manchester City next season.
