Super Eagles Midfielders Happily Swap Shirts After Europa League Face-off

Nigeria midfielders, Abdullahi Shehu and Anderson Esiti were happy to reconnect as they exchanged Jersies after Europa League match involving PAOK and Amonia Nicosia on Thursday night.

Shehu was an unused substitute for Amonia Nicosia while Esiti made PAOK starting line-up and played till 46th minute when he was replaced by Douglas in the 1-1 draw at Stadio Toumbas Thessaloníki, where Eric Bauthéac put the visitors in front on 16 minutes before Thomas Murg restored parity on 56 minutes.

It was indeed a happy reunion for the Nigeria internationals who were not involved in the recent friedlies against Algeria and Tunisia in Austria, as the joyfully swapped jersies, as portrayed by the picture above, uploaded by Shehu alongside a statement on his Instagram page hours after.

"It was nice connecting with my brother Anderson Esiti in today's game. Big fight from the team and the away point will motivate us," stated the former Kano Pillars player who joined Amonia 18 September from Bursaspor for an undisclosed fee.

Shehu represented Nigeria at U20 and U23 levels, winning bronze with the latter at 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro before graduating to Super Eagles where he has belted 35 games since 2014, and was part of the team that finished third at 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Esiti, who is playing his second season at PAOK , having joined them from Gent for €3.5 million 24 July 2019, has been capped three times by Nigeria since making his debut in 2015.
