Why Chelsea's Conor Gallagher was handed player of the month award by Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have officially announced Conor Gallagher as their player of the month for August after his brilliant displays for them since the start of the season.

The 21 year old midfielder who is on loan from fellow Premier League club Chelsea, has arguably been the most important player for Patrick Vieira's side, with 3 goal contributions in his first three appearances in the Premier League. He grabbed their first goals of the season with a well taken brace against West Ham and then followed it up with another wonderful display in the London derby victory over Tottenham.

Gallagher was instrumental in dethroning Spurs from top of the table last weekend, first winning a penalty for the opening goal, before providing an assist to seal an impressive 3-0 win over Nuno Espirito Santo's team.

The move to Crystal Palace is the fourth loan spell of Gallagher's young career since he graduated from the Cobham academy. He has spent time in the Championship at Charlton Athletic and Swansea City, before impressing in the EPL last season with West Bromwich Albion.

Conor Gallagher is a similar type of player to Mason Mount, he is a midfielder who likes to drift into the box and contribute goals and assists to his team. The England youth international is a bright prospect who has a huge career ahead of him. He is highly rated by his parent club and is certainly a part of their plans for the future.

Congratulations to Conor Gallagher for winning the Crystal Palace player of the month award. Hopefully he continues his fine form under Patrick Vieira and force his way into the Chelsea first team next season.
