Man Utd 3-2 Atl: 3 Players Whose Individual Brilliance Saved Manchester United At Old Trafford

Manchester United recently won Atalanta FC 3-2 in a pulsating Champions League encounter in a fully packed Old Trafford. The Red Devils who had previously lost their lata Premier League game with a 4-2 scoreline to Leicester City came up big time to win against Atalanta in a classic Manchester United comeback.

Goals from Pasalic and Demiral sank Ole Gunnar Solskjær's men at halftime, before a Bruno Fernandes moment of brilliance saw Marcus Rashford score, beating the goalkeeper from a tight angle. It was his second goal since returning from injury a few days ago.

A 75' minute goal by Harry Maguire, assisted once again by Bruno Fernandes saw the Red Devils drawing level at Old Trafford. While Atalanta showed fighting spirit,it was clear that all they wanted at this moment was to defend and walk away with at least a point.

However,an 81' minute goal by Cristiano Ronaldo sealed all three points for Manchester United in a tight Champions League encounter.

A well crafted cross by Luke Shaw saw the Portuguese forward latching on to head the ball neatly into the bottom corner. It was the second time Cristiano Ronaldo has had to rescue Manchester United from a losing position, with the first against Villarreal a few weeks ago.

Manchester United's late comeback victory means that they are now top of 'Group F' with 6 points in 3 games, after previously losing 2-1 to Young Boys FC in their first Champions League game of the season.

Cristiano Ronaldo's late minute winner means that the heat on head coach,Ole Gunnar Solskjær will abate for the moment,as he prepares to face Liverpool at Old Trafford, even as an in-form Mohamed Salah will likely give the Red Devils a run for their money.

As Manchester United edge out Atalanta to win all three points at Old Trafford, here are three players who impressed and ensured the Red Devils sealed an important home win. While Ole Gunnar Solskjær may have been in charge of the game,he did little or nothing, and the game was won based on individual brilliance of some players.

1. Bruno Fernandes

The Portuguese star provided two assists in the game, one to Marcus Rashford in the 53' minute of the game, and another to Harry Maguire in the 75' minute of the game. While Fred and Cristiano Ronaldo wasted the chances he provided in the first half of the game,he still turned up big time to guide the Red Devils to an impressive home win in the Champions League.

His brilliant in-through balls also served as a way to break down the opponent's defenses, giving the forwards a chance to score.

2. Marcus Rashford

Despite missing more than 5 clear cut chances to score,Marcus Rashford was still one of the best players on the field. The Englishman who came back from injury recently now has 2 goals in 2 games,in Manchester United's 4-2 defeat to Leicester City anson the recent 3-2 victory against Atalanta.

While the likes of Jadon Sancho are still struggling to score goals, Rashford has shown why he is an integral part of Manchester United's starting XI tonight.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo

Clutch then, clutch now; Cristiano Ronaldo's 140th career header came at the right time to give Manchester United all three points against a resilient Atalanta team. While Ole Gunnar Solskjær tried in the selection of the team,it was the individual brilliance of these top players who gave Manchester United the win, which is one of the reasons the Norwegian may be sacked in the event of any match loss.

While Cristiano Ronaldo may have saved Ole's job, Manchester United may not be able to depend on individual brilliance all the time, and the sooner Zinedine Zidane or Antonio Conte is appointed, the better for the Red Devils.
