Chelsea football club were undoubtedly one of the few active Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window before it was shut in September.
The West London club want to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool for more prestigious trophies this season and have splashed the cash during the summer.
Chelsea are currently on top of the Premier League table after racking up 19 points from their opening eight league matches of the season.
But then, the Blues could now be rocked with reports that experienced central defender Antonio Rudiger could be on his way out of the club when the transfer window opens.
The 28-year-old Germany International, who joined Chelsea after leaving Serie A side AS Roma in 2017 has been an important member of the first-team squad over the previous seasons.
The experienced central defender had an interesting 2020/2021 season under manager Thomas Tuchel and made 34 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and recording one assist in total.
Antonio Rudiger has also had a flying start to the 2021/2022 season and has scored one goal and one assist in 11 appearances in all competitions so far.
However, its no longer news that Antonio Rudiger has less than a year left on his current contract with Chelsea and according to reports from popular transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his verified Twitter page, Chelsea are still locked in talks with him over a new deal.
But then, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that as things stand now, the agreement over a new deal for Antonio Rudiger is far from reached.
That said, many clubs are interested in signing Antonio Rudiger and he could leave Stamford Bridge as a free agent when his current contract expires at the end of the season.
