Lionel Messi Describes Martinez As The Best Keeper In The World.

Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa has been dubbed "one of the best goalkeepers in the world" by Argentina captain Lionel Messi.

Martinez is 'essential,' according to the Paris Saint-Germain forward, who also added that he has established himself in the game.

After Argentina's 3-0 triumph against Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier in the early hours of Monday, Messi had this to say about Martinez's performance.

In the first half, Martinez made two spectacular saves to deny Atletico Madrid's Luis Suarez, before Argentina beat Uruguay thanks to goals from Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, and Lautaro Martinez.

Messi told TNT Sports, "Dibu [Emiliano] Martinez is fundamental."

"He always responds when they come to him; he established himself in goal, and we now have one of the top goalkeepers in the world."

Martinez, 29, was a hero for Argentina during their summer march to the Copa America 2021 title.

In the semi-finals, the former Arsenal goalkeeper saved three penalties in a penalty shootout win over Colombia.

Arsenal has been dealt a major blow after Lukaku told Inter Milan that he wants to join Chelsea.
