Luis Enrique's side ended Italy's unbeaten streak with a 2-1 victory in yesterday's UEFA Nations League Semi-final, thanks to a brace from Ferran Torres. Italy were unfortunate in yesterday's game, as they were reduced to 10 men after Bonnucci was sent off in the 41st minute for elbowing Sergio Busquets, which I believe was a terrible decision by the referee.
Following yesterday's game, fans took to social media to slam Chelsea's Jorginho. Jorginho wasn't at his best, but he also didn't have his worst performance. This season, the Chelsea star has played almost every game for both club and country, and I believe he needs to rest.
Folllowing his performance against spain yesterday, Many football fans concluded that Jorginho doesn't deserve to be a ballon d'or. In my opinion, this is not true. The midfielder has been outstanding this year. His performance last season was enough to show that he dererves the award. It's almost impossible to put on a show when you're playing almost every game, it wasn't his day and besides Italy were reduced to ten men in the first half. Italy had to switch to counter attacking and Jorginho found it difficult to cope with his pace. Despite his performance today, Jorginho is still a ballon d'or contender and he has what it takes to win the ballon d'or award next month.
