Eden Hazard admits first season at Real Madrid was worst of his career

Eden Hazard helped Real Madrid win the LaLiga title in his first season at the club but still called it the "worst of his career".

Los Blancos overturned a two-point deficit after the restart to leapfrog Barcelona and win their first league crown since 2016-17.

Eden Hazard admitted his first season for LaLiga champions Real Madrid has been the worst of his career after failing to to impress since his big-money move from Chelsea last summer.

The Belgian's move to the Spanish giants was the highest profile move of last summer after ending an eight year spell with the Blues to move to Spain for an £88million fee potentially rising to £150m.

After much expectation on the mercurial winger it has been a tough season for him, where injuries have restricted him to just 16 league appearances.

Former Chelsea star Hazard value Madrid an initial fee rumored to be €100 million (A$163 million) last July however has endured an injury-plagued 2019-20.

A hamstring issue delayed his debut for Los Blancos, while foot and ankle issues have contributed to him beginning simply twenty one games in all competitions.

Real Madrid have won the Supercopa de espana and LaLiga in 2019-20 and stay within the Champions League, though they lost the first leg of their last-16 tie against Manchester city 2-1.

“Karim Benzema is incredibly friendly and down-to-earth. He’s here to score goals and win matches. i believe he’s shown another time this year that he’s quite simply the best,” Hazard aforesaid.

“Then you have Raphael Varane. I’ve come upon some fantastic defenders throughout my career, like John Terry and Vincent Kompany. i believe that though [Varane] remains young, he’s already one in all the most effective centre-backs of all time.

Real Madrid are on course to concede the fewest quantity of goals in a 38-game LaLiga season in their history, and Hazard thinks having "one of the most effective centre-backs in history" in Raphael Varane has been key.
