Ilechukwu who made this known in exclusive interview with Opera News on Sunday, says the former Arsenal forward deserved the accolades ahead of Austine Okocha and John Mikel Obi, to me i saw this in media and it's causing confusion, but this are out three biggest stars in Nigeria.
"I'm a fan of all of them (Kanu, Okocha and Mikel) , but I think Kanu Nwankwo won African best twice and winning that award twice and with other things he won, Kanu should be the best in the history of Nigerian football." Ilechukwu said.
Kanu scored 13 goals in 87 appearances for Nigeria, played at five African cup of Nations and three FIFA world world cups.
The lanky forward also won the FIFA U-17 world cup with Nigeria and Olympic gold medal in Atlanta 96 Olympic games.
He was voted African football of the year in 1996 and 1999 respectively after his success in Atlanta 96 and with Arsenal in 1999.
Kanu is one of of the only three Nigerian players who have the UEFA champions league and also the Europa league titles.
