AFCON

3 African Countries That Have Never Been To The AFCON

The African Cup Of Nations is a competition for involving all the football federations in Africa. Unfortunately, this doesn't mean that all African countries would participate in every competition as there are more than 50 countries in the continent.

This also unfortunately means that some countries are bound to never qualify for the tournament. These are 3 of these kind of countries.

1. Somalia.

Somali hasn't, played in the AFCON competition since they gained independence. The team failed to even enter the qualifiers a couple of times and have been banned from participating more than once, probably because of the security problem in their country.

2. Djibouti.

Djibouti is one African county that has unfortunately been unable to qualify for the competition despite performing well. However it is rumoured that they either withdrew or were disqualified from the competition due to financial issues. However unlike Somalia, they have participated in many AFCON qualifiers.

3. Central African Republic.

Despite pulling shocker after shocker, even one against Algeria, Central African Republic has also failed to qualify for the African Cup Of Nations but have come close to qualifying a couple of times. However this country has also withdrawn a couple of times for one reason or another.
