There are perceived relevant reason why UEFA are right to some extent as a Villarreal Player, Gerrard Moreno was given Man of the Match Award following Chelsea's Super Cup victory over Villarreal.
Many Chelsea fans have been criticizing the UEFA match officials' decision as Moreno was given the award despite the fact that Villarreal were the losing team.
Many Blues fans have been of the opinions that the club defender, Trevor Chalobah or their goalscorer, Hakim Ziyech should have been given the award. 
Speaking from my own angle of view, Gerard Moreno really deserves the award for his efforts which held the match longer to penalty shootouts at Windsor Park.
The goal scored by him was responsible for how the match was extended to extra-time and consequently to Penalty Kick Shootouts.
Another reason is that the award may be given to him as a form of consolation as his efforts at goals didn't materialize despite his brilliant displays in the match.
