Football as we all watch and love it did not start today. The sport has been in existence for over a hundred years and has seen different generation of Players come and go. One competition we love is the UEFA champions league, have you ever wondered how it came about.
The UEFA champions league as we all know it was once called the European cup, it was actually created by a French Man who was a former footballer and Journalist, Gabriel Hanot. He brought up the idea and ensured it's creation in 1955.
That was not his only contribution to the Football world as the Frenchman also introduced the annual football Ballon Dor award to reward a Player for being the best Footballer in the preceding year.
We all love the UEFA Champions league and always look forward to knowing who will win the Ballon Dor especially between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, all these are possible because of Hanot's creation.
