Koeman set to sign Gerard Pique's replacement

Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman is keen on strengthening his squad when the transfer window opens this December.

The manager has started to make list of his needs to the team as he has reportedly come out with his key targets.

Barcelona are facing an injury blow in the defensive line as their key player hobble off in their 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid last week.

The Spain international has missed the champions league game against Dynamo kiev, but the center line was in doubt.

The center back is expected to be sidelined for six months as Koeman is eyeing up a replacement for the Spain international.

The star has been an important player in the team holding the defense to help the Catalans to improve defensively.

Ronald Koeman has believe that the loss is just for the moment, and the team will get well soon and this transfer window.

"We know that it is an important loss for us, and possibly for some time," Koeman said. "We are looking and have previously looked.

"One of those positions we are looking at is that central issue. But today we cannot do anything. If there is any possibility we can then I will have to talk to the club.

"He has been here for many years, he has a huge personality and it is a significant loss. It is sad for the team and for the club. It is difficult, but we have to accept and see how we solve this issue."
