Opinion: Why Erling Haaland Is Overhyped And Should Not Be Considered As A World-Class Striker

The Norwegian striker has started the new season with 2 goals and 2 assists to his name. In the match against Eintracht Frankfurt, Erling Haaland scored a brace as the match ended in a 5-2 victory to Dortmund.

Haaland opened his goal records for this season in Dortmund's first match, as they got a victory over Frankfurt. The 21-year-old striker is known to be one of the best young talents in football currently, and has a good eye for scoring goals.

Last season Erling Haaland scored an impressive 41 goals across all competitions, and scored 27 goals in the Bundesliga alone.

There is no doubt he is a good striker and an absolute goal-scoring machine, but the only problem is the League division he plays in. Erling Haaland plays for Borussia Dortmund, which is a top club in Bundesliga.

The Premier League is considered to be one of the toughest league divisions in modern football, where only the elite get to thrive. The EPL consists of strong teams, and this makes it difficult for any team to stand out and consistently win the league.

Unlike the La Liga or Bundesliga, where the League titles are only passed between two or three big clubs. There are strong opponents in the Premier League, and no club stands out to be the best until the end of the season.

Erling Haaland may dominate the Bundesliga, but could fail if he decides to join a Premier League club. This is because he has no experience in the Premier League, and may find it too hard to adapt to the EPL club's style of play.

In the Bundesliga the defenders play a very high defensive line. So this makes it easy for Haaland to run with the ball and have a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper. Haaland in a 1v1 situation with a goalkeeper mostly results in a goal.

Using Chelsea's Timo Werner as a case study, he joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig. While he was in Leipzig, he scored above 10 goals every season and sometimes scored even 20 goals in a season.

Since he joined Chelsea, Werner has found it difficult to score goals and this could be because he has not fully settled into the Premier League.

Even Kai Havertz faced some challenges when he first joined Chelsea, but gradually has improved his game and is playing more like the way he did at Bayern Leverkusen.

Haaland should leave the Bundesliga and come to the Premier League, only then would he truly be considered as a world-class striker in my opinion.
