5 Premier League Players in Need of a Fresh Start

Some players in the Premier League clubs could leave in January when the transfer window opens. in an attempt to reignite their careers. Whatever the reason behind it some players know a transfer will be the best for them if they are to feature regularly and fulfil their potential. Here we look at the players from who need a summer move.

5. Divock Origi (Liverpool)

Despite deputising for the Roberto Firmino , Origi is unlikely to ever nail down a regular starting place under Jurgen Klopp. Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have restricted Origi’s playing time this season. A move, maybe to a mid-table Premier League club, would do him the world of good.

4. Dele Alli ( Tottenham)

After breaking onto the scene in 2015/16 with 10 goals and 11 assists in 46 appearances, Dele had a career year the following season. In 2016/17 Dele scored an incredible 22 goals and added another 13 assists in over 4,000 minutes of action. With a goal or assist every 114 minutes, Dele was producing at a remarkable rate and Tottenham was winning consistently as a result. A dip in goals was accompanied by an increase in assists in 2017/18 but both dropped dramatically the following season, along with Dele’s minutes. As the midfielder fought through some injuries the form from those first three years has not returned. Over the last three seasons accumulating 19 goals and 19 assists over 105 appearances show us the production is just not there anymore. After setting career lows in games (29), minutes (1355), goals (3), and assists (5), it is probably just time to move on. At 25 there is likely still a footballer in there just not the one Spurs fans reminisce about. At this point, it is likely best for everyone. Dele should move on to try and re-start his career and allow the club to move on and restart their attacking midfield. Even though he has played 6 matches in the Premier league this season, he really needs a fresh start.

3. Paul pogba - Manchester United

Although Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola said the midfielder is unlikely to leave Old Trafford last season, he also stated that the France international was unhappy at the club and was open to a change. His form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been far from consistent. The French player did not hide his love for the Spanish Giant Real Madrid. If they come in January he could leave.

2. Donny Van de beek - Manchester Manchester

Donny van de Beek’s future has rarely been far from the headlines since he moved to Old Trafford, the midfielder having seen his career stagnate since a £40m move to Manchester United from Ajax. The Netherlands international had formed part of the exciting Ajax side that reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2018/19 and was courted by several of Europe’s elite, but his anticipated move to a footballing superpower has been an unmitigated disaster. Van de Beek has failed to win the trust of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His status slipping from one of the continent’s most promising young midfielders to a forgotten figure at Old Trafford.

1. Ross barkley - Chelsea

Ross Barkley has become a forgotten man at Chelsea, having been deemed surplus to requirements last summer without finding a suitor. Having been a regular member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad some years ago, it has been a remarkable fall from grace for the midfielder who must choose his next destination carefully. Barkley has bundles of natural ability and the potential to be the creative catalyst for sides further down the division, the likes of Burnley, Newcastle and Leeds monitoring his situation and reportedly willing to gamble on the 33-cap international finding form and fitness.
