Statistics Which Shows Mourinho Did A Better Job Compared To Solskjaer In Manchester United

After recent poor performance in the English Premier League, which has seen Manchester United dropped down the pecking order on the league table, fans could be wondering if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the right man for the club or if Jose Mourinho could have been given more time to build his team (Manchester United are currently 6th on the log table after their away defeat to Leicester City over the weekend).

In the latter stages of the 2018/2019 season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as caretaker manager to take over Jose Mourinho, as he won 14 of his 19 matches in charge and was later given a 3-year contact to take charge on a permanent basis.

Solskjaer, is yet to win a trophy for Manchester United, as the closest he came was an Europa League final with Villarreal last season (Villarreal won Manchester United on penalties to secure their first ever Europa title win). With Manchester United’s summer spending of over £133.7 million (Manchester United bought Sancho, Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo this season), fans would expect them to mount a serious title challenge and end their English Premier League title wait (Manchester United last won the league in the 2012/2013 season).

However, the current situation at Old Trafford shows Mourinho did a better job, as he won his first trophy for Manchester United in their FA Community Shield by beating Leicester City 2-1, won the EFL Cup and also, the Europa League courtesy of a 2-0 win over Ajax all in his first season in charge (Mourinho’s Manchester United’s Europa League win ensured he kept his 100 percent record of winning every major European Cup as a manager).

At this point, it’s still unclear if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can achieve or pass Mourinho’s Manchester United’s title records if his team continues to drop points both in the English Premier League, and also in the UEFA Champions League (Manchester United are currently third in their Champions’ League Group).
