Fogini defaulted for abusing judge

Italian tennis star, Fabio Fogini was defaulted from Barcelona Open for verbally abusing a line judge.

The world number 27 was tied with Bernabe Zapata, upending him when he had a clash with the official and he was disqualified by the umpire for the unprofessional act.


The 33-year old player was one of the players who have been defaulted from a match


This not the first time Fognini will be disqualified as at the 2017 US Open, he was knocked out of the tournament and fined $24,000 for a series of insults aimed at a female chair umpire.


The recent one before the Italian's drama with the judge was when Novak Djokovic incidentally a judge at the 2020 U.S. Open.


Australia's Nick Kyrgios was among stars who were also defaulted at the Rome tournament in 2019 after hurling a chair onto the court.


Fogini was the first player to be defaulted after Djokovic at the 2020 U.S Open.
