Real Madrid battles Atletico Madrid to sign young Nigerian midfielder who plays for Arsenal

Young Nigerian midfielder Tim Akinola is a subject of interest from European clubs in the summer. The youngster joined Arsenal last summer after his contract with Huddersfield Town expired. 

Compared to Ngolo Kante because of work rate and ability to retain possession, Akinola is highly rated at the Hale End Academy, and a transfer is looking unlikely. 

According to, five European clubs are interested in signing the youngster in the summer. 

Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Borrusia Dortmund, Monaco are monitoring his situation. Also, they are analyzing his performance with a bid of making a formal bid for the 19-year-old. 

Since signing for Arsenal, Akinola has been an integral player for the U21s and U23s. He has featured in twenty-three games for both teams - and nineteen as a starter. 

His contract with the Gunners expires at the end of the 2021/2022 season. At the end of this season, he will have a year left on his contract.
