Seven games have been played in the Premier League yet we can't tell the team that is likely to win the league as all top 5 clubs in the league table are separated by just 2 points. The reason for that is the brilliant performances of the players of those clubs. We have selected one player from each of the teams and stated why they are the reason behind their club's push for the title.

That Chelsea is currently number 1 in the Premier League league table is down to no other but Mendy who has been excellent this season. So far the Senegalese goalkeeper has 3 clean sheets in the Premier League but that doesn't tell the whole story as he was also vital in some matches that Chelsea conceded a goal.
For instance, his 8 saves in the match against Liverpool in which the Blues were forced to defend following a red card to Reece James earned Chelsea 1 point. He also made sure their goal difference was not reduced too much in the match against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea was beaten. Altogether he has made 24 saves in 6 Premier League appearances this season. That shows how important he is to his side.
2) Mohammed Salah - Liverpool (2nd position)
Salah is probably the best player in the Premier League right now and I am not being biased. The return of Virgil van Dijk from injury has helped Liverpool but it is the consistent world-class performances of the Egyptian international at the other end of the pitch that makes Liverpool title contenders.
He is currently the joint top scorer with 6 goals and remarkably he has scored against every opponent he faced this season except Burnley. Those included matches against Chelsea and Manchester City. In addition to that, he has 3 assists to his name which is joint fourth best so far in the league.
3) Ruben Dias - Manchester City (3rd position)

Dias has continued from where he stopped last season in which he won the Premier League player of the year award. Manchester City has some of the best attackers in the league but it is the performance of the Portuguese center back that has kept them in the title race.
He was a big part of the reason his team was able to go 5 straight matches without conceding a goal. That is the most number of clean sheets in the league so far, it included two 1-0 wins against Leicester City and Chelsea and a scoreless draw against Southampton. That is 7 points he helped his team win.
4) Cristiano Ronaldo - Manchester United (4th position)

So far Ronaldo has proved those who said he was too old for the Premier League wrong. Having said that, Manchester United is only 2 points behind Chelsea but there is this feeling that they are a bit inconsistent. It might have been worse without the Portuguese superstar who has scored 3 goals in 4 appearances.
5) Andros Townsend - Everton - (5th position)

For now, due to the quality of the teams above them, it's too early to call Everton a title contender. However, the performance of Townsend so far has made them one of the top 4 contenders. The English footballer has 3 goals and 2 assists to his name so far this season. One of those goals earned his team a point at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
