The waiting is finally going to be over tomorrow, as the first set of the second leg of the quarter final tie was completed tonight, teams that will make it to the Semi final are known, while others that can make it to the final can be suggested. A lot of noises were made before Chelsea played the Porto game, with many believing that the Portuguese club are going to cause another upset by eliminating the premier league side.
Chelsea got the job done in the first leg, when they match Porto in energy level, and capitalize on two defensive errors to record a 2-0 away success. By the time Porto will got their only goal at Stamford bridge, the deed has been done, it's confirmed, Chelsea will play in the Champions league semi final for the first time in a couple of years, a date with either Liverpool or Real Madrid has been booked already, and after another tournament favorite, Bayern Munich crashed out the sane night Chelsea progressed, the blues chances of winning the continental crown has been boosted again.
Like Porto, Bayern Munich won the away time tie by a lone goal, however, most of the damage has been done in the first leg, and they now have to wait for another season to have a chance of success in the competition. However, their elimination means Chelsea's chances are boosted.
Chelsea were eliminated by Bayern Munich last season at the round of 16 stage, and there's no assurance that the blues can overcome the Bundelisga giants if they meet again this term, they have received help now from PSG, it's left to them to deal with whoever comes their way in the Semi final, between Liverpool and Real Madrid, then, they can think of the final.
But as it stands now, Chelsea cannot afford to relent, while attention will be shifted to the premier league in their race for the top four, they must manage players minutes and afford them enough rest.
Bayern Munich is gone, Over to you Chelsea, this could be your time to rule Europe again.
