The UEFA Champions League qualifiers round is still ongoing, with teams like Genk, Rangers, and Malmo all hoping to make it to the competition's group stages after being away for a while. While other top European teams like Celtic and Galatasaray crashed out of the competition in the 3rd round of qualifiers.
CONFIRMED: The 2021/2022 draw for the Champions League group stages will take place on August 26th. Next year’s final is set to take place at the Saint Petersburg stadium, home of Russian side FC Zenit.
Defending Champion Chelsea is set to take on Villareal in the UEFA Super Cup on the 11th. On the other hand, the UCL Best Player's Award will also be announced on the same day as the draws.
Pot 1 has already been occupied by teams like Chelsea, Villareal, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, Man City, etc..
It will be the first time in over 10 years that both Madrid and Barça will be absent from Pot 1. The Spanish giants (Madrid and Barça) finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in Laliga last season.
Juventus will as well miss out on Pot 1 for the first time in 9 seasons following a disappointing 2020/21 season that saw them finish 4th (making the Champions League on the final day of the season).
