Manchester United football club were one of the few active Premier League clubs during the just concluded summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have shown their intentions to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea for trophies this season and have completed the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho to improve their current squad.
And even with those additions, the Old Trafford side have endured a lukewarm start to the season and are currently in 4th position on the Premier League table after getting 14 points from their first seven games.
In addition to that, Manchester United have scored just 14 goals in those seven games and are now reportedly interested in signing Benfica young striker Darwin Nunez to improve their attacking options.
The 22-year-old Uruguay International, who joined Benfica from Spanish side Almeria last year has been quite impressive since he made the move.
The young striker was sensational for Benfica in the 2020/2021 season, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions for the Portuguese club.
He has so far started the ongoing season on a high note as well and has scored six goals in eight appearances for Benfica.
Due to his impressive displays for Benfica, coupled with the impeccable qualities he showed in his recent match against Barcelona, Darwin Nunez has attracted a lot of interest from several clubs across Europe.
And according to reports from The Sun, Manchester United are among the interested parties as they aim to improve their attacking options under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2022.
However, the Old Trafford side are reportedly going to face competitions from other Premier League clubs including Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in order to secure his services.
That said, it remains unknown where Darwin Nunez will be playing his football next season but the one certain thing is that several suitors are lurking around to price him away from Benfica next year.
